I read in a SoftPedia forum someone suggested the retail 1.09 firmware when ogm playback is required, so I make a simple question: is there a list of features people modding the FWs removed?? i.e.: OGM, additional languages for the disc navigator.

I don't like the idea of loosing OGM playback, it was a key point in the choosing process, and I *cannot* lose the italian navigator, since my family requires it.
If no features have been removed, I will put the 1.09.03.01 cp-1252 firmware in my player.


As side request: is there a place where I can download a non-modded 1.09 firmware?? (I have a dv-380-s). The only link I found was in rapidshare and the file was not available anymore. I'd like to have a backup without having to open the case.

Nothing is removed (almost nothing - in file browser I've removed only jpeg preview, to display more chars in filenames). The problem is that 1.09 firmware has sometimes problems with ogg files. As I heard, in 1.20 firmware this bug has been removed, but I'm not using ogg files, so I don't know if it's true. But you can install modded 1.09 firmware and check if it will handle ogg files. If no, you can install some other firmware.

I'm happy with the current ogg situation, they play as I wish... so it's ok, thank you very much.

About the FWs available on pioneerfaq: someone said they have polish as default language, is it correct or was it only a temporary mistake??

olafmarzocchi, firmwares posted here are polish in most cases. But firmwares posted on pioneerfaq should have english as default language.

You must know that support of OGM container (not ogg audio) in all FW (modified or not) lesser than 1.15 is wrong implemented.
And this bug can harm your ears in literal sense. OGM randomly just hang out DVD player like he's dead ( only unplugging helps ) and makes veeery loud noise.

I think this is some sort of misunderstanding here , because firmware newer than 1.09 is required, certainly not 1.09 itself . Unfortunatefully there aren't any Gufiak's mod without this bug yet

I want only add that original firmwares posted here in Download are also original, so they have default language as the factory made (English).

I will now install 1.09.03.01 as taken from pioneerfaq, while waiting for a 1.21 with some of the changes I care most (i.e.: at the time being it doesn't seem to be able to pick up subtitles with different file names).
