Hello guys,

Please excuse the language, I don´t know Polish, hope you don´t bother...
I have a DV-588A and I am searching the net for a firmware that could make it capable of loading DivX 6 (Ultra) files, including menus and other features.
Is it possible or is this feature (DivX 6 compatibility) hardware-limited??

Pity this model is not "DivX Ultra" compatible... it´s an excelente player, I do not intend to buy another one because of this incompatibility.

I have original 1.08 FW installed and I want to upgrade to original 1.21 FW. Two questions, though:

1) Where can I find a complete list of all modifications made by original and modded FW?? I can´t even find the Pioneer´s link to original FW!!
2) I´ve read the operation is backward compatible, but where could I find a file of my original 1.08 so I could reinstall it in case of something goes wrong??

Your player can still work DivX Ultra but just does not support menus. So if you put some dvx Ultra file in it it will play the movie without menu.
Pioneer does not release it's firmwares for dvd players. Every original firmware you may find on internet was saved by users, with serial cable.
All modifications list in English, you may find on www.pioneerfaq.net in dv-585 section. Your player is compatible with 585, 380, 2850.
You do not need your 1.08 fw. No one would know what fw was previusly installed in your player. So if you have any original firmware the warranty is still working.
