Model odtwarzacza: Pioneer DV-696 and -380

Hi all,
I have the Pioneer DV-696 AV with HDMI output and resolution upscale to 1080i.
A couple of minutes ago I downloaded your polish modified firmware as well as the international version at Pioneerfaq.com.
Everything worked fine - but now I don´t have the HDMI output anymore and can´t configure it in the settings!!
Is that a different version of the 696 I have (germany), or the wrong firmware??

As a quick solution I downloaded the "original firmware" here in the download section - but it´s the same - no HDMI output or configuration possibility.

Can anyone help ??!!

HELP NEEDED !!

This original FW was a base for modification. It was extracted directly from someone's player. There is a possibility, that your player had different (probably newer) original firmware before upgrade/downgrade.
Have you checked your version before upgrading?

realcams I'm sorry it happened to you, but the only changes to this fw was made in graphics. Not the core of the file. I did touched only fonts, background graphic, screensaver and this is all.
So HDMI must work, as it was. IF this does not work now, this must be some other reson, I do not know it. You are the very first person that reports such a problem, so may be there is some hardware reason. Please try to control the cables and plugs. You may also upgrade the player with original FW and give it to the service. No worrie thay find you were changing fw.
Please write if you find the solution for your problem.

Hi @ll,

no, I didn´t had a look in my players firmware release number.
I was too fast in overwriting the original firmware because of the lots of good experiances I´ve had with former Pioneer players and your modified firmwares (i.e. the DV-380).

So, I don´t know if there might be a firmware difference or a hardware change in the last time. But - I bought the player in July, immediately after it was available here in germany.

After dinderi´s reply I checked the cabling, but no change - all cables and connectors OK - especially the HDMI cable between the player and the HD-TV.

Still, in the settings menue of the player, the HDMI settings are not accessible (transparent grey) and the HDMI output doesn´t work.

Do you know any other place in the web where I can download an original firmware for the Pioneer DV-696 AV to try if this will work with the HDMI settings??

regards

I'm using the firmwares found at www.pioneerfaq.info in my DV-696AV and have no problems using HDMI at all, they work.

Have you tried to manually reset your player and to disconnect the cable and the reconnect it??

f this do not help , then something is wrong with your player and you should reinstall an original firmware and then contact the Pioneer support for a repair/replace of the unit.

Hi +NoWorries,
hi @ll,

no change with the firmware from pioneerfaq.com, too.
Checked again the cabling, powered of the player for a while, reconnected it to the HD-TV, but no change at all.
Still no HDMI output - or at least, no legable HDMI.
Also the settings in the menue still greyed and unavailable.
But how yould that happen by updating a firmware??

May be some error occured during updating and may be eeprom memory was lost, or so. It is all "may be". I think, the fastest to do is to install original fw and visit Pioneer's service.

Try to manually reset your player -> power it on while holding "stop" button on the front panel.

Hi @ll,

nothing really helped so I went to the service and received a replacement player from stock - and everything works fine now.
Can anybody tell me how to check the firmware version on the 696-player??
I just want to check which is on the players sold in germany.

regards

Got the same problem ... No HDMI after firmware change. worked before the upgrade and I have reinstalled a original one but I think this might be an handshaking issue.

The HDMI on my plasma got sync and audio but no image.

Realcams.. did you flash the replasement as well ??

I have been using Hakan v2.1 on my 696 and it worked well over HDMI at all resolutions (I prefer 1080i).

Having just upgraded to Hakan v5.0 and I have immediately lost HDMI picture. It appears to act like a handshaking issue.

I have been looking for a more recent version than 2.1 to drop back down to, but can only find v5.0. I still have v2.1 so will drop to that.

Hi I'm using the V5.0 and I have no problems with HDMI. It works as it should.
What TV/Projector do you have??
Please install the original that V5.0 is based on and test to see if you have HDMI then!!
If not then there is a compability error in the firmware and should be reported to Pioneer.

For V3.01: http://www.pioneerfaq.info/click/click.php?id=175 <-- RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE TARGET AS..... other wise it will not work

Edit: there was no V4.0 for DV-696AV

Hi NoWorries,

Thanks for the link to v3.01. I installed v3.01 and that works fine at all resolutions over HDMI.

The problem with v5.0 appears only when you return to the main menu.
It plays well in 1080i and 720p, but when you hit stop and return to the menu, the picture scrolls (flickers) continuously.
This is the same when you first switch on the 696, the main menu flickers. I can change the resolution using the Initial Settings menu (as I don't need to see the screen to do that) and it's then fine until I start and then stop a movie hence returning to the main menu again - then the flickering begins.

It appears to be a handshaking issue as the HDMI light flashes on my AV Receiver (new Pioneer vsx4asi) when handshaking and I see this when I return to the 696 main menu each time.

I'll have a go with the latest original firmware which v5.0 is based on and report back soon.

Steven
