The problem is that some items of the menu are invisible:

in the european model the list of the visible options is different. i want to edit the language list but i don't know wich lines are visible. earlier models (2850/380/383/...) also had this issue

it changes together the font of the divx subtitles and the subtitle track selection on dvds

can any owner of european 393 (the one with a scart connector on the back) please just write down the list of the languages shown there??

10x, on 490 it's exactly the same as you wrote, but 393 has different modifications, so i want to make sure

Today, I added newest fw for 393 in our download section. It is saved on Sunday, from newly bought player and firmware is marked as YDA6824A.
I also made some modyfication to it, but only for CP1250. To be dowloaded at download section. Modded firmware supports Polish OSD.

Comparing it to Hakan's V3.0, my mod:
1. Does not show .srt files in file browser
2. Cursor hilights filename and also an icon.
3. It is possible to choose one font with grey background (only CP1250)
4. Not fixed bug .srt and .idx subtitles timing.
5. Bigger subtitle window
6. If the file is FF or REW there is no possible to play other mp3.
7. You can see the file extension in filbrowser (does not work as it should yet, but one day will be fixed)
8. Different graphics different icons.
9. Polish language
The rest is the same, perhaps

What is the maximum hight for fonts supported on the new firmware(hakan or dinderi) for the player??Is it 38 or is changed

I do not know what fonts Hakan used.
High of fonts depands on font type you use. There will be different for Arial Narrow and different for Tahoma etc.
I used Arial Narrow fonts, shrinked with a special tool made by Subz3ro, maximal size 26 or 28 (I guess), I made this fonts quite a long time ago and can not remamber it exactly.

New functions added, some bugs fixed, comparing to orginal firmware:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
- Hold small 'Enter' on numpad until the player turns off. Now it is region 0
- Hold 'Clear' untill the player turns off. It restores the original region.
- Shuffle function for MP3 under "Surround" button. For V.Surround hold the button longer!
- Pressing and holding keys < and > faster and slower playback.
- Pressing and holding key 1 increases volume and key 4 decreases volume - but just a very little
- VFD dimmer under '0' key on RC (hold this key longer to change VFD brightness)

- The pointer stays as it was in File browser and is not reseted any more
- Replaced screensaver
- Changed icons and some colors in the filebrowser
- New background and filbrowser
- Displaying first 50 chars of filenames/directories in filebrowser
- Support for longer filnames in File Browser
- Support for special chars in File Browser (250-255 chars are truncated)
- JPEG Preview disabled
- Playe Mode with MP3/WMA/JPG enabled
- Shows all characters in filename, foldername and when pushing Display on RC
- White Divx/Xvid subtitles outlined with black
- Removed grey subtitle background
- Fixed .SRT and .IDX/SUB subtitles timing bug
- Bigger fonts for divx/xvid subtitles
- Bottom aligned divx/xvid subtitles
- Changed dir line text - Y offset, font, text color and text length
- Pan&Scan mode enabled on all DVDs
- UOPs (User Operations Prohibited) disabled - but only partially

I had the same problem. Fixed it by changing the subtitle language (home menu/ Initial Settings/ Language/ Subtitle Language/ Other language) to one of the following:


"2.2. How to set Subtitles to your Language: (This might not work)
-----------------------------------------

1. To set CP 1253 use language code tr 2018
2. To set CP 1252 use language codes ji 1009 or iw 0923
3. To set CP 1251 use language code russian 1821, sr 1918, mk 1311 or bg 0207
4. To set CP 1250 use language code sq 1917, sl 1912, sk 1911, ro 1815, hr 0818, hu 1821 or cs 0207 "

The subs stay white, with a blue outline, thought.
