Hello all,

this last firmware is great (Dinderi 3.0), but all my dvd's are show in pan & scan, even with letterbox activated. Is it possible to deactivate the automatic pan & scan for DVD's??

Thanks

it's been quite a while since my last visit here... is there any changes for the 393 firmware since the last one... last time i asked for adding support for languages who need backward support, is somebody working on that field.. (dindery, gufiak.hakan, anybody...) - it's very important to me and i guses to lot people too... ;-)

is there any chnace of progressing in the firmware that it will be like done in 383 ??

p.s - thanks a lot for being the best support site in that field and the most experts... somebody said gifiak.... dindery.... and hakan (have another excellent site) :brawo: :brawo: :brawo:

ilan-s, , this backward subtitles is not an easy issue. No one here speaks Hebrew, Arabic etc. This is why, no one works on it. What is more, Gufiak is personaly responsible for all that's been done in mod fw's for 393,490,696. Without him, no one of us (me and Hakan) would not know, how to implement most of changes. But now Gufiak is busy at school again, so any possible work has to wait, as he has some free time, to write few instructions, again. I spoke with Gufiak about this feature a while ago, and he confirmed, this would be so difficult, he never have an interest to work on it.
I wonder, why Borus and Cax does not want to make this feature, again. As those guys know best how to do it. Maybe, thay just do not have those players, to work with.
I'm sorryilan-s, to be honest, I guess, you will have to wait, as someone else make this feature. :-(

dinderi - first of all thank you for your reply.

wanted to say that the feature of backwarding has done most by gufiak in the 383 player, and the moding team from israel just inserted support for hebrew and some folding line algorithems.

Borus and Cax has no longer active in the israel team of "lionetwork" site and unfurnatley no one from israel (that i know of) know how to this comlicated backward thing.

so i guess, gufiak is propbaly the only one can help me (and a lot of israelians and etc...) on that issue.

i just pray that gufiak will agree and will find time to work for this important issue.

please update me on new things that going in direction of more stable fw in 393.

p.s - can you ask again gufiak about that issue ?? - thanks a lot again

If you want to play mp3 from entire disc, you just have to put disc into player and press PLAY. Do not enter any folder and you will get the effect you need.

Great firmware, but the subtitle font is too big this time. For me, anyway.

   Model odtwarzacza: Pioneer DV-393

After searching for months for a spare Pioneer DV-380 and not been able to find one, I decided to get a DV-393. I've tried the different firmwares available for it, Dinderi's, Hakan's and, finally, Robert's modification. I wish I could utilize Gufiak's BSCA1096 mod, unfortunately, this 380 FW can't be installed in the 393 without risking killing the machine.

I followed the advice of Dinderi and copied the CP1252 8 through 11 fonts from Gufiak's above mentioned mod for the DV-380 with the MTK Remaker software, and substituted these for the ones in Hakan's DV-393 version 4.0 FW.

These new subtitles work well with spanish subs (I'm is Spain), however, their two big sizes 8 and 11 have the "stack or jerking" effect when the subtitles are long. This doesn't happen with long multi-line subs in the DV-380, at least not with Gufiak's mod. Another thing is the shaded background on the subtitles. How do we get rid of that?? Is that part of the subs themselves or is it a command elsewhere in the FW??

Is the "Smart Word Wrapping" installed in the FW. Could this be causing the jerkiness observed in long multi-line subs?? How do we turn that off??

I liked the latest, most advanced FW mod by Robert, however, the letters in the subs are a bid too spaced and they seemed grayish rather than bright white, although the black borders help. There's no gray shading behind them either.

As a matter of fact, I would have been happy with the earlier FW's if it wasn't for the smallish subs. If I knew how to make them bright white, a tad bigger and outlined in black I'd be happy as hell.

I know none of this is easy to do and my nitpicking doesn't make it easier. Thanks for all the help guys, I think I'll give the 393 to my kids and keep the 380 while I continue searching for a spare.

Muchas gracias desde Espańa.

Timbero

Folks, it's me, "Timbero" following my own post.

After spending nearly a month playing around with the DV-393, yesterday I decided to throw in the towel on it and give to the kids with Hakan's V4.0 FW installed. They'd just happy to have a Divx capable machine in their room.

This is just to say that having my DV-380 back makes you realize how good Gufiak's FW makes this machine work. I missed its big white backgroundless fonts and the ability to switch from pan and scan to 16x9 at the push of a button, to mention some.

Thanks to all,

César.

I have the same experience as Timbero with jerkiness on displaying longer subtitles onto the screen when large font is used. Hopefully this is only some patch missing in ARM code... Similar problems on 585 were caused by wrong size of font characters (not multiple of 4) but here this is no more valid, as we have x4 characters.. This is also happening with Robert's FW, not only Dinderi's one. Hopefully somebody can tell more in near future, as this is the most horrible bug of modified FW :-|
