There is a man in Russia, called Patron who discovered and made a patch for dv380, that alowes user to choose mp3 files with numkeys on remote control. But, as far as I know, no one implemented it in to any else firmware. So conclusion is, that for your player the only method is to"brows and brows".

Dear dinderi,
many thanks for your prompt reply.

With numkeys it was possible on my "old" United player, and I'm a little sad that it's not possible on my "new" Pioneer player...... :-(

Hello again!
Dinderi, you gave me a link to Robert's firmware supporting russian. Yes, it supports russian in filebrowser, and I have it installed now on my player. And it has this bug I'm talking about. Filebrowser uses Font 2 to display list of files and some other font to display current dir in the line at the top. I dont know which font it is. You mentioned Font 4, but it does not contain russian letters.

Hello Sergio,
The Font you're looking for is Font 1, wich contains Cyrillic characters for OSD menu but not on the right place and order for correct folder naming. From my experiance on Greek characters to get the right folder names you have to modify Font 1. To modify the font you must at first extract it (save it), using MTKRemaker. Then use MtkFontCreator and produce a CP 1251 font with letters matcing in size those of Font 1. After this transfer the set of characters of CP 1251 with codes 192-255 (i.e the basic Russian alphabet) to the code positions 144-207 on the extracted Font 1. Be sure to restore the vanishing west European accented characters, wich are covered by the new ones, if you don't want to lose French or Spanish OSD menus. You have to remove them on some empty positions of Font 1 and make Language modifications with MTKLangEditor. In my case it worked.
Good luck!

Do you know how to make my DV 393 serach DivX movies by time. I'm talking about the option available in Home Menu/ Disc Navigator/ Search / Time . The manual says this should be available for DivX movies but it is not. Neither with original FW or Pioneer dv-393-YDA6824A-mod_v.3.0-by_Dinderi .

Can you help me?

"qwertz": that's really strange, because in my Pioneer DV393 the function of searching by "time" works perfectly with Divx files (either with Original Firmware or with Robert7/Dinderi pan&scan firmware).

if the "time option is greyed out this means only one thing:
broken divx file. with normal files it does work

if time option is greyed it means that the movis is in "stop" mode.

the time option works only when the movie is in "play" mode , and you need to press on "play mode" in remote control to go to the time option and insert the desired time.

Hi everyone!
I need some help please! I've just bought my DV-393, and half of the DVD movies I try to play on it, are in Black & White! They only work fine when I play them on my PC.
What's going on? Should I update the FirmWare? Or just change something on the settings?

My current region is: 4 (should I change it?)
My current ROM version is: YDA6525A (should I change it?)

I'd also like bigger srt subtitles. Dinderi suggested this web site: http://forum.pioneerdivx.net/tematy52/564.htm
Which FW should I download from it? (Hakan, Pioneer or Robert)?

Thank you in advance.

You need to set your player in to PAL or NTSC mode.
You get B/W becouse your TV cant handle NTSC or PAL!

To find out how to do that, please go to:

NoWorries, his TV can be NTSC native. it could be incompatible with PAL (i don't exactly know what system is in Argentina). So there's a possibility, he HAS TO change to NTSC, not PAL :-)
