Hi to all the people making new releases of firmwares for pioneer players...

Is it possible to post us a list of what is in progress, what is that you are trying to enable/disable/change and modify in the near future just to see what we can expect in the future...

Will ever be a GUFIAK mod for 696??

Yes, there will be, but I don't know when. And I can tell you nothing about future modfications because I don't know what I will be able to modify. Now you have modifications made by Hakan on http://www.pioneerfaq.info/

Hi

I got a DV696AV 3 days ago and flashed it with Hakan mod ... But it seems it is impossible to make my player "MultiRegion" ...

When I press Enter, 3 secs after the players turns off, but when I start it again and I check the region code, it is still Region 2 ... Shouldn't it be Region 0

What sould I do

You should put in DVD disc, region other then 2. You will see your player is region 0

It only says it is region 2.

Hi all!! New here.
I,ve just put Hakan's fw in my dv696 but i still have the grey background in subs, and this ones are still a little bit small.
Is it just me or someone have the same results??

Hakan used special fonts in his mod. To remove that gray background, you need to replace fonts in firmware, for the one without any background.

You may take any other then Hakan's modded international firmware. Open it in MTKRemaker, save all font banks. Then Open Hakan's firmware and replace each font, for those saved one.
F.e.you may use fonts from any of mine international mod firmwares.

I can´t get it to work properly. :oops:

I've changed the fonts but when i play the files, chinese characters appears!! :-?

?
I'm gonna stop before i´ll kill the player :-P

I'll wait for the masters to provide a new fw for this player!!

jpstanan, it is only wrong font position in firmware

Change subtitle language in players settings, and you will change the font bank to use. Even, if you put proper fonts into the wrong position, you can still use them.
Innitial settings

Subtitles

enter the code :
2018 to choose the fonts which are on position 11
1009 to choose the fonts which are on position 10
0207 to choose the fonts which are on position 9
1917 to choose the fonts which are on position 8
1001 to choose the fonts which are on position 7
or the code for Greek language to choose the fonts at position 4.
One of those codes will work for your subtitles, if you put every different codepage fonts into Hakan's firmware.

They still a bit small and, seems to me, no outlined.

I have Hĺkan's v5.0 firmware loaded for the dv-696 but the subtitles are still very small for divx files. Also white subtitles are impossible to see on a white background in the film.

In the menu I chose english for subttle language. I don't see any choice or subtitle background.

It needs to be fonts replaced.
You need to create fonts with black outline and replace them in firmware.

Hi there!!

I get some "mini DVD's" from a friend, and they don't want to play on my 696....

These are actally CD's with .VOB files on it, and mastered in Nero as Mini DVD's...

My friend has a Pio 585 and it plays there with no problem, I also tried on PC, and PowerDVD recognised the discs as Mini DVD....

When I insert the CD into 696 for a moment it says thet it recognised a Mini DVD, then in one second it says STOP and there is nothing to do... no play, no Enter it wont do anything I can only Eject the disc...

Is something wrong with my player?? or is it because Hakan's last firmware, or 696 does not support mini DVD??
