   Model odtwarzacza: DV-696AV

Hello Gufiak & Dinderi!!
Sorry if you already know about my friend's problem on Softpedia, but he still waiting for help!!

My friend just bougth US version of DV-696AV - Pioneer DV-46AV.
Its FW version is YDD6628A and Region Free, but in
http://www.pioneerfaq.inf...php??player=DV-
696AV&question=Firmwares
for Europe all versions are beginning with YDC, for example YDC6628A
and in common MTK Remaker shows Y*C*****.BIN
Unfortunately he didn't like VERY small subs for DivX/Xvid so he
want to change FW with unofficial. The only problem is this small
difference in FW file name.
This D after Y in DV-46AV maybe is for different DVD region only or
maybe shows other differences??
I don't know letters after model number (DV-696AV) and their
meaning, so can somebody help with it?? Because he found Service
manual for DV-46AV for region 1/ DV-696AV versions for DVD Region 1,
3 & 4 but not for 2. They are absolutely identical, exept some flash
rom in DVD MT ASSY part, that rules DVD mecha.

If somebody knows, please just tell us can we use FW for DV-696AV
for DV-46AV directly without problems and "killing player!!
Or just write a link to official/unofficial FW for DV-46AV I can use
for making bigger size subs!!

Thank you in advance!!

Hi,
This is the very small difference that may suddenly grow to be gigant ;)
If there is even one bit of code different, according to mechanical/optical, control this can make the player not to work with any cd/dvd. If such think happen, and you haven't got original firmware for this player, you will not have a chance, to go back to original firmware without using serial cable and computer. What is more stressing, there is still no extracted original fw for this player avalible.
So, in two words, if you upgrade dv49AV with fw for dv-696 you may kill the player, even if this is so similar. If you do it, this will cost you few extra bucks, to "resurect it" at original Pioneer's service shop. So it would be better to connect the player with computer, save it's original firmware and then, try modded fw for 696. This is the only rational way. Any other way is a hazard.

Thanks dinderi!!
I also think the same and wrote to him, but my friend is far-far away from me. He is in Israel and he is not so PC skilled person. Till now I just make and change fonts for him for his old DV-470.
Thanks again!!

Hello!!
I have another question about DV-696AV.
Is there DTS decoding of MPEG4 files or not?? I want to know whether or not this unit output DTS audio from MPEG4/DVD on 2ch downmix and 6ch analog, or on Digital audio and HDMI only??
