Hi,

I have managed to disturb the update process (dont ask how, I would be too embarassed to tell).
Now I have to bring the player back to life. Soon enough I will get the serial cable for mobile phones (one of those from this picture : , then I will follow the steps described at http://www.pioneerfaq.inf...ion=Dead_Player

I just have some questions:
1. I was able to identify the CP4001 connector on the main board, it is not in the same position as the one from DV-400 and I am not sure which pin is what. Can you help me find out without disassembling the mainboard from the chasis (the pin name is supposed to be writen on the back of the mainboard)

2.Is this the bin I should use with MTK tool to revive the player : http://forum.pioneerdivx....=category&id=29 ?

3.My player is completely dead...nothing on the display when I connect it to power source, no matter which buttons I press. In the instructions from http://www.pioneerfaq.inf...ion=Dead_Player
it is written at step 4: "With the right hand, Power ON the player from the front button and take care to NOT move the left hand. With the right hand, press the Upgrade button from MTK Tool. From now, your player will communicate with your player and start upgrading." Will this "Power ON" work as long as now the player is completly unresponsive to such a command?

Many thanks,

George

Yes.

Would you attache any picture of your motherboard, to let us describe proper pins?
Motherboard has no any pin descriptions, even if you unscrew it and look at the bottom.

Here is the mother board:

One more question...the cable I was able to get by now is a DKU-2 USB cable for Nokia.Do you think it is possible to use this one, as the serial one seems to take longer to find?

I tried to find some schematics of this DKU-2 (http://pinouts.ru/CellularPhonesCables/nokia_dku2_cable_pinout.shtml) and I am worried as the voltage seems to be+5V instead of 3.8V....

Regards,

George

I bet, pins are as described on picture :)

I guess, better Idea then buing cable for mobile phone is to built serial interface itselfs. Follow schematics drawn in this files: http://forum.pioneerdivx....ion=file&id=141
I recommand "Tiny_3_wires" one. It is extreamly cheap and relible. Parts costs less then 1 Euro and work takes cca. 15 minutes.

P.S. Posts moved to separate topic.

To make this sticky complete, I would say that I followed Dinderi's advice and I built the cable myself (it took me longer then 15 minutes to make it :)), but it worked well.

Also it's important to use the right firmware. Download this: www.pioneerfaq.info/filer/DV-600/YGC7509D.BIN <-- ONLY FOR UPGRADING VIA CABLE! it's a original FW! (thanks No Worries).

Thanks,

George

If it always stops at 88%, then flash memory is damaged and you should go with your player to the service centre.

Flash may be damaged or it can have an unknown signature. But you said that it stops at 88%. But it's important if it always stops on 88% or it stops each time at different position.

It's right. Try to limit baudrate to 57600 when you will flash next time. What kind of cable are you using? Home made? Nokia cable based?

Ok, so I have a sad information for you. You can go now to the shop and buy a new player. Unfortunately you probably fried up your player's chipset. Upgrade cable should have a level translator, because player can accept voltages up to 3.3V, which is much much lower than voltage on RS232 port pins (+/-10V - 12V). So you can't directly connect RS232 port pins with your player's main board. Check this link: http://pioneerfaq.info/en...ion=Dead_Player

jackk11111, Get proper data cable and try to resurect your player. Maybe nothing bad happened and you can still bring it back to life.
