   Model odtwarzacza: pio

I successfully upgraded my dv-400 with dv-410 firmware. All functions seem to work the same as original firmware (buttons..display.. etc..). I am happy to say the new firmware now offers time search function for avi files and it works great! I am still testing other new functions but that seems to be the only difference. i was hoping it would fix the choppiness on playing some avi files but it seems to still be there. I have not tested HD jpeg feature because i do not have an hd photo to test. I have successfully updated two of my dv-400s with new dv-410 firmware from pioneerfaq (stm 2.2 cp1250). The upgrade worked with no problems. The procedure is still the same although after a min of updating the screen will turn black at this point i waited another 5 min before unplugging from wall and turning back on. The pioneer 400 booted up no problem with new firmware. I will continue to use and report any new findings but after seeing the time search feature added, i already like the new firmware.

Does the time search feature work on videos in USB thumb drives?

Yes, the time search function works for both cd and USB drives. You will find the time search feature by pressing the "play mode" button on your remote and selecting "time search" from the menu.

so this s an un-modified original version of the 410's firmware on the 400? i installed a modded firmware for the 400 off of pioneerfaq and it killed my HDMI output.

The firmware is modified from pioneers' original firmware. I have NOT tried un-modified firmware on my dv-400. Both STM version 2.2 and 3.0 and work with hdmi. I am not sure what firmware disabled hdmi for you but 2.2 and 3.0 work fine for me. *The only real benefit from using the 410 firmware on the 400 is to allow time search for avi files, but being able to time search fixed my freezing problem on playing some avi files. Hope this helps!

From time to time, every, NOT DEDiCATED for your model firmware may kill HDMI or/and analog audio output. It depands on eeprom settings.

I think they are both the same minus the file browser graphics. The 2.2 firmware has the original look to the file browser (yellowish) while the 3.0 has a grayish metallic look to the file browser. Other than browser graphics i dont think anything else has changed from 2.2. Make sure you download the correct file for your language too as shown on the download page!

ok... so i tried the v 3.0 of the dv-410 firmware and it seemed to be good at first, but today i started the dvd player and AGAIN it killed my HDMI output. It works for a day or so (not sure if re-booting it is causing the problem) but basically i will load a movie either off the USB drive or a regular DVD movie, and as soon as the movie tries to start the video goes all interlaced/blocky and flickers and the TV says 'weak or no signal' and that's it...If i plug in a regular S-Video or RCA video the picture is in black and white and severely off-center. The only thing I can do is re-load the firmware and my HDMI works for another day. Any ideas? Any mods i can make to avoid this? I also tried using my computer monitor with HDMI/DVI input and it had the same issue with no signal, so its not a TV issue. Should I just stick to the original firmware?

Use firmware dadicated exactly for your player :) It is a big luck, you do not need use data cable and computer to make HDMI work again. When I use fw from dv410 or dv600 or dv610 on my dv400, I always loose analog audio and only way to fix it, is upgrade original uncut firmware with cable.

I do not have a data cable, I only upgraded the FW by burning it to a CD via the instructions at pioneerFAQ.com. The HDMI does work, for a bit...maybe a few movies or a few days or whatever...but it always goes blank and I have to re-load the firmware. Should I just revert to an un-modified copy of the DV-400 FW?

If you face problems with modded firmware, please check with original one.

@Nick

make sure your settings are set for your tv type pal or ntsc (i know this shouldn't matter for hdmi but for some reason it did on my tv). If I have this option selected to auto (default for new firmware) and i try to play a movie that was pal format or different region dvd, i would have the same garbled screen. The picture was clear until the movie started, correct? After selecting your tv type in settings make sure you restart your dvd player for changes to take effect. You could also try changing the setting for hdmi out (majke sure it is on 480p or higher, no interlaced) Finally, you could try playing with the region setting to make sure your correct region is set. Sometimes having the incorrect region can cause problems on some dvds. Hold enter on remote until player turns itself off, then restart and your player will be region free. Hold clear button on remote until player turns off to reset to default setting. Not sure if any of these options will help your situation but its worth a shot. Good luck!
