Hi everyone! I recently purchased this awesome player and I am trying to make it multiregion. It's region 2 (PAL), has anyone tried the english modded firmware in this thread on a PAL, region 2 machine?

Hey oRBIT2002,

I can't confirm if region 2 would be the same, but I just used it to update my Australian spec region 4 player with no worries.

There's alot of problems(?) related to fonts with the firmware (many posts about this anyway), do I really need to bother about it with this english fixed firmware? I suppose the language mentioned is for the players menus only and not for subtitles on the dvd's/divx am I correct? Does this english firmware still has troubles with divx subtitles (wrong position) as mentioned by a few?

I found it in this forum but it seems to be removed or something since I can't find it anymore...

I modd the osd langage (OSD 2 - language 1 only) for english default
I modd the PalDY parameter in mtkwindows to 86 for sub at bottom
I burn the cookie... Put it in player... close tray, wait for update message and I push "enter"... DONT TOUCH ANYTHING NOW and few second and the player eject disc immediately, then REMOVE the disk and wait one minute... player close tray ITSELF... push the "enter" button and stay few seconds will player go power off.
Power on now and...... woooooooo E X C E L L E N T ! I have now a zone 1 multiregion player with VERY NICE FULL NAME MENU MOVIES

Just one thing I dont try is the USB but i think is good
There is some accent on french menu language but very not annoying... (only in menu, not in sub movie)
I will try to put my mod english soon in download section but there is it the procedure to update region 1 player for all region. I don't know about macrovision...

Install in english default and change for italian at first power on. whats your problem ?

OK I did it ...... it seems work nice before like the usb, but the italian language seems to show before and after any word a strange sign like This ' ...... Is it normal? Thanks!

there is no any sign or accent issue and all are perfect. i put the subb at bottom with dinderi dragoon background and menu style inside.

New FW from Hakan 2.0

<< - DVD Fast Start, turned on causes that DVD-Video movies will be played without showing the FBI screens, ads, menus, etc. Player will jump directly to the main movie. But this feature can cause problems on some DVD-Video discs, in this case you should turn it off.
- New items in Audio Settings:
Bass Boost
Super Bass
Treble Boost
- TV-Type NTSC, PAL or Multi, [restart your player to accept the new settings]
- Load all subtitels REMOVED
- Moved some OSD items
- BNR is at Video Adjust
- Moved Black Level to Video Adjust
- Fixed bug with Move Subtitles
- Subtitles are aligned bottom and to left! >>

I don't know why he removed load of all subtitles and center align of subtitles.
I hope the new FW from Sebastian keep old settings and new audio features.

Load All the Org is one of the most complicated modification in dv400. It done many problems for Sebastian, to implement. Maybe the code made too many difficulties to Hakan.

I agree with the subtitles... Subtitles aligned to left (with NO options to modify it) is the worst modification in the firmware. Is horrible to watching a movie this way... Why in the left, for god sakes?...

Is the YGB7821A Version 1.2 Dated 3-8-2008 Seb@stian the only firmware with long file names shown in the menu? Also who has the latest firmware for the 400?
